Installing the Mod

The following steps detail how to install the Crowd Control mod in the vanilla Minecraft launcher. Users of third-party launchers likely can skip this section, as you should be able to download and install the mod from Modrinth or CurseForge using your launcher's mod management system.

  1. Download and run the Fabric Loader installer.
    • You may first need to download and install Java.
  2. Ensure the Minecraft version is set to 1.21.1 and click the Install button.
  3. Navigate to your Minecraft installation folder.
    • On Windows, this can be accessed by Pressing Windows Key + R and typing %AppData%\.minecraft.
  4. Create a new folder called mods.
  5. Download the latest build of the Fabric API and place it in the mods folder.
  6. Download the latest build of Crowd Control for Fabric and place it in the mods folder.
  7. (Recommended) For the best experience and extra effects, we also suggest downloading and installing the following mods to the mods folder:
  8. (Optional) Copy all the other Fabric 1.21.1 mods that you want to play with into the mods folder.

The mod is now installed! Open your Minecraft Launcher and select the fabric-loader-1.21.1 profile to play. You may now join a Crowd Control server or start a single player session.

Starting a Single Player Session

The following steps detail how to start a Crowd Control session on a single player world. It assumes you have already downloaded and installed the mod.

  1. Download and install the Crowd Control app.
  2. In the Game Library tab, select Minecraft.
  3. Select Configure Minecraft.
  4. Enter your Minecraft username and click next.
  5. Select Fabric and click next.
  6. Select Remote.
  7. Enter in localhost as the host and click next.
  8. Accept the default password crowdcontrol by clicking next.
  9. Launch your modded instance of Minecraft 1.21.1 and open the world you want to play on.
  10. In the app, if you see a Connector Error button, click on it to refresh the connection to the game.
  11. Select Start Session in the Crowd Control app.
  12. Open the Effect Manager in the Crowd Control app to test effects.
